4 tips for painting
Although the oil painting process is simple and has the same color as children's oil, it is not so easy to apply oil evenly and smoothly. In fact, there are some techniques for painting, which even professional masters can use. Once you master them, you can easily paint the perfect wall and give your new home a brand new look!
1. From top to bottom, outside to inside
Pay attention to the sequence when oiling the wall. You should apply it from top to bottom to avoid oil dripping. If the ceiling is to be painted, the ceiling should be painted first, and then the walls on all sides to avoid staining the walls with paint that falls off when painting the ceiling.
In addition, brushes of different sizes should be used from the outside to the inside: first use a flat head to brush the four sides of the wall and the electric switch position, and then use a roller to cover a large area in the middle. This can be more efficient and achieve the same effect. More carefully.
2. "W-shaped" is more uniform
Regardless of whether you use a roller or a flat brush to apply oil, there will be more or less traces. Many professional masters will use the "W-shaped" technique for oiling. Use the brush head to draw the "W" back and forth on the wall from top to bottom until it is completely covered.
The "W-shaped" stroke method can minimize overlapping pen marks and reduce the formation of obvious marks. Moreover, the diagonal upward coloring can make the paint more even, and the result will be more detailed and even than brushing vertically back and forth.
3. The most important thing to smooth the wall is to “criticize the dust”
There is a layer of "ash" in the wall sandwiched between the cement and paint. It is usually made of clay, gypsum powder, vegetable glue, etc. If the gray layer floats and becomes loose, the surface paint will peel off. Moreover, if the wall itself is uneven, no matter how good the painting skills are, it will be difficult to paint the wall smooth, so criticizing the dust is an indispensable step before painting.
The steps for criticizing dust are as follows:
Step 1: First use a spatula to remove the floating and loose gray layer.
Step 2: Go to the hardware store to buy ready-made gray materials, or buy the materials and mix them yourself
Step 3: Fill the uneven parts of the wall with gray material, and then use a scraper to smooth it out
Step 4: After drying, smooth the interface with sandpaper
After applying the dust, it will be easier to lay the base of the wall, and the paint will be smoother and flawless. It saves a lot of processing and polishing steps, and can also make the paint more stable and longer-lasting!
4. Sanding should not be underestimated
Even if you are a professional master, there will definitely be one or two drip marks when painting, let alone a novice DIY.
But even if the paint is not smooth, don't worry too much. In fact, as long as the paint is dry, lightly sand it with the smallest sandpaper to remove the traces. If the wall is accidentally scratched, you can also add a layer of paint.
If you want to paint the wall smoother, before applying the second layer of paint, you can sand the wall with sandpaper to smooth out some of the paint mixed with dust, and then apply a new layer of oil. Although it takes more work, the finished product will be smoother. If you pursue perfection, you cannot save time.
